The pinnacle
A small sculpture of stone and lime crowns the cone. It is the trullo’s most recognisable sign — you see it rising above the olives before you see the house.
Cisternino · Valle d’Itria · Puglia
Forty-two restored trulli, fifteen suites and a pool among the century-old olives.

42 trulli · 15 suite · 6 hectares
A nineteenth-century farming hamlet brought back to life on the Itria Valley plateau.
The borgo
Borgo Canonica is an invitation to step back in time for an authentic experience. Among the scents of the Mediterranean maquis and the sculptural forms of century-old olive trees stand 42 trulli — witnesses of an ancient farming hamlet that lets you rediscover the rhythm of country life and the wonders of an archaic landscape marked by lime pinnacles and cones of chianchette stone.

Stories of the borgo
“This is one of those commissions that make our job the most beautiful in the world, wrapped every day in the light of the Apulian sky, its inebriating scents and colours.”
Architects Aldo Flore and Rosanna Venezia
“Everything here was covered in green, ivy had climbed all over the trulli, they were completely covered… Now we are bringing them back to life.”
The trullari, master stone-builders
“If anyone had asked me to buy those trulli I wouldn’t have wanted them even as a gift. And yet I marvel at what they managed to do. Look at what Canonica has become!”
Nicola, the borgo’s last tenant
